The Fire Fire Stick has a lot of great features like 4K streaming, Alexa support, and inbuilt support for Android apps. The App Store on Fire TV Stick doesn't do enough justice to the apps and makes it difficult to discover new ones. This does not mean that you cannot have great apps on your Fire TV Stick, I have done the hard work for you and showed you some of the best apps for Firestick. Let's get started.
- Best Apps for Firestick
Best Apps for Firestick
1. Easy Fire Tools
There are many Android apps that are not available on the Amazon Store. With Easy Fire Tools, you can easily load apps on Fire Fire Stick from Android smartphone with just one click.
The app has some requirements before you can download apps to the device. Make sure that your Android smartphone and Firestick are on the same WiFi network. Next, you must enable USB debugging on the Fire TV Stick by going to My Fire TV > Developer Options > Turn on ADB Debugging. Once done, install Easy Fire Tools (link below) on your Android smartphone. Next, establish a connection between the Firestick app and Easy Fire, by taping on the connection icon on the top right. You will see a small popup in Firestick, asking for your permission, select Yes. And that's it. Now, you can easily upload apps from your Android smartphone to Firestick.
Installations Easy Fire Tools (Complimentary)
2. ES File Explorer
Next up we have ES File Explorer, a popular file explorer for Android smartphones that also works on Fire TV Stick. You will need this because the Fire Fire Stick comes with 8GB of internal storage and there is no file explorer to access that storage.
ES file manager allows you to read and write to the internal storage and it supports some of its unique features in the TV version as well. You get a network option that gives you access to the cloud. View on PC allows you to access local files via FTP over WiFi. ES File Explorer also supports USB flash drives using the host cable. Once you use the host cable, you can connect any flash drive which will be visible in file explorer.
ES File Explorer is a must-have if you want to stream content from a flash drive or access content on a local network. It is free and you can download it or get it from the official app store.

3. Aptoide TV
Next on the list is Aptoide TV, it's an alternative to the default App Store. Although apps can be offloaded from Fire Easy Tools, a good app store is a must as the downloaded apps are not automatically updated.
Aptoide TV is specifically designed for the bigger screen and offers most of the apps you'll find in the Play Store. To download an app, simply explore a category or search for the app you want. Once you find it, just tap on it and it will start downloading the app in APK form. What makes Aptoide TV unique is the ability to update apps automatically.
Although it offers similar features as Play Store, Aptoide has some illegal and malicious apps. So beware while downloading unknown apps while on the app discovery tour.

4. Mouse Toggle for Fire TV
Mouse Toggle for Fire TV. This app allows you to control the Fire TV Stick with the mouse. Why do we need to switch to the mouse? The Fire Remote Control though it works and lets you open the app but it can't navigate through the apps interface.
Mouse Toggle enables the mouse service and you can use the cursor to navigate the applications. It shows a circular indicator whenever you press the play button twice. Once you see the cursor on the screen, just move around the screen with the navigation keys, and you're good to go.
This app will come in handy for most of the apps that are not designed directly for the Fire TV Stick. You can get this app for free on Play Store.

5. Smart DNS Proxy
Firestick also supports a VPN app like a lot of desktop computers and smartphones.
While the app works like a regular VPN, the user interface is a bit stretched as it was designed for smartphones and not Fire TV. Once it's on, you can use the Mouse Toggle app or connect a mouse (OTG cable Firg support) to choose the country and tap the connect button. Once connected, you can access all geo-restricted content.
Smart DNS Proxy is right for you if you are accessing apps that are not available in your country like Pandora, European Netflix catalog, etc. Smart DNS Proxy costs $5 per month.

6. HayStack TV
Next, Haystack TV, is a Fire Tv stick news app. With broadcasting services taking over television, people cut wires and access to daily news channels was lost.
Haystack TV asks for your interest and asks you to follow channels that match your interests. It allows you to choose the channels and even genres you like, resulting in a clean and informative news feed on your TV.
This app has a long list of news sources, from major news sources like CNN and Sky News to genre specific news videos like entertainment and games, you can get it all here. The app is free on the Play Store and you will get some ads here and there but nothing annoying.

7. Tune In Radio
TuneIn is a popular radio service that provides personalized radio stations, podcasts, music, etc. With TuneIn Radio you can also listen to live radio and podcasts such as NFL podcats.
This application allows you to listen to your favorite stations and songs that you want. It also supports background playback so you can continue browsing movies while listening to your favorite music or podcasts.
TuneIn Radio is a service for people who enjoy podcasts regularly and want the same experience on their Fire TV Stick. TuneIn is free to download and use, and it also offers a paid subscription that costs around $10 per month.

8. AirScreen
AirScreen is one of my favorite apps on the list. The second generation Firestick has a display (although it's a little buggy), the latest Fire TV Stick 4k doesn't have any at all. Fortunately, you can still cast your screen on both old and new firestick with the help of AirScreen.
AirScreen works with DLNA-compatible devices, supports Miracast, and AirPlay. Meaning, you can not only cast your Android screen on firestick, but it also supports Windows, macOS, and iPhone as well. You just have to connect the devices to the same network, launch the app on the Fire TV Stick and connect the device to the TV. Simply.
AirPlay is the best option for you if you want to cast your laptop content using Google Cast, AirPlay or Miracast. AirScreen is free on the Play Store.

9 Spotify
You probably already know about the next app on the list, Spotify. You can also use Spotify on Fire Tv Stick as well.
Download the app from the Aptoide TV app or set it aside using the Easy Fire Tools app. The app works well on FireStick and is well optimized for TV layout. You can navigate between different playlists, albums, and playlists and listen to your favorite tracks.
If you want a music streaming app, Spotify would be a great choice. You can download for free on the Play Store and the subscription cost is $10 per month.

10. Plex
Next, we have Plex, which lets you access your local storage on a PC from your Fire Tv Stick. You can use it to stream movies, music, photos, etc. to your TV.
Install Plex on Fire TV Stick and on your Android PC Windows Or Mac And set up a server on your computer. Open the application and you will see all the recent audio and video files on the computer. Click on any video, hit play, and you're good to go. Also, make sure the devices are on the same Wifi.
The app is free and you can get it from the Play Store, it offers in-app purchases for additional features and has ads.

11. Rec
And finally, Rec, it is used to record the screen of an Android device. Surprisingly, Rec works for Firestick too.
Since it was originally made for smartphones, there is no way to access its interface but mouse toggle allows you to control it. You can use it to navigate the app and start recording. You can set the following options: Size, Bitrate, Duration, and Audio. It can record up to XNUMX hour with this app which will be enough for most of the shows that you will record with this software.
To access the recordings, use the ES File Explorer app to access and share the file with other devices. This is best for recording your favorite shows on Fire TV Stick. You won't be able to record DRM-protected content like Netflix if that is what you have in mind.

Best Apps for Firestick
These were my picks for the best FireStick apps for the Fire TV Stick. Not all of these apps were necessarily developed to keep the Fire stick in mind, but they do surprisingly well at it. Rec lets you record screen, Plex lets you access media from your computer. You can use most of the apps with mouse toggle and most importantly Aptoide TV, Easy Fire Tools you can install all the amazing apps with these two apps. Let us know if you have any other featured apps that you want to add to your Fire TV Stick.

An Amazon® Fire TV Stick™ is one of easiest ways to stream your favorite movies and shows. Just plug it into your TV, connect to Wi-Fi, and press play. But what about when you're not on the couch? Is it possible to connect your Fire Stick to your laptop?
At Asurion, our experts get questions like this every day. They help millions of customers resolve their device problems and get the most out of their favorite tech, from finding ways to make a refrigerator last longer to cleaning a TV screen without damaging it. Here are their tips for how to watch Fire Stick on a laptop.
Can you use a Fire Stick on a laptop?
The short answer is yes—if you have the right equipment. But it's a bit complicated. We'll dive into a deeper explanation of what you'll need to use a Fire TV Stick on your laptop or computer monitor later in this article. If you're just looking for ways to cast your laptop to your Fire Stick so you can see what's on your laptop on a larger screen, we'll go over those steps first.

How to mirror a laptop to your Fire Stick
You can also easily mirror your computer screen to a TV using your Fire Stick. Your Windows™ laptop can do this too. Just follow these steps:
On your Fire Stick:
- Press and hold the Home button.
- Select Mirroring from the menu, then select Enable Display Mirroring.
On your Windows™ PC or laptop:
Note: Ensure your desktop PC has a wireless adapter, otherwise you will not be able to connect to the Fire Stick.
- On the right side of your taskbar, click the Notification icon.
- Click Connect, then select your Fire Stick from the list.
- Go to Settings > System > Display to change the resolution and scale of the screen.
Have a Mac?
You can use a third-party app like AirScreen™ to mirror your MacBook® on your TV using a Fire Stick or other Fire TV™ devices.
How to connect a Fire Stick to a laptop
As we noted earlier, you can watch a Fire Stick on your laptop, but it requires a few extra steps and potentially some extra equipment.
Using HDMI
Can You Hook A Firestick Up To A Computer And Download Apps? Store
Most laptops have HDMI ports similar to those on your TV, though they work in different ways. Laptops can only send video signals using their HDMI-out ports. This allows them to connect to external monitors and televisions and mirror their screen. The Fire Stick also uses an HDMI broadcast output to stream content. So a laptop and Fire Stick are essentially designed to do the same thing.
Using video capture
If your laptop doesn't have an HDMI-in port, you will need an HDMI video capture device to hook up your Fire Stick. This device converts the video output from your Fire Stick into a format your computer can recognize, and it also allows you to bypass your HDMI port and instead connect using a USB 3.0 port.
Certain video capture devices allow you to simply plug in your Fire Stick and then connect to your laptop's USB 3.0 port to start watching. Others may not be compatible with the encrypted video output on a Fire Stick, so you'll need to first connect the Fire Stick to an HDMI splitter, then to the video capture device.
Some video capture devices require special streaming software to display the Fire Stick on your laptop. OBS Studio is a free program you can download that lets you easily stream. Just hook up your device, set it up on OBS Studio, and you're good to go.
Remember, your Fire Stick is designed for a TV, so if the above methods don't work as intended, use your web browser to log in to your favorite streaming apps online.
How to connect a Fire Stick to a computer monitor
Want to use your Fire Stick on a computer monitor? Unlike a laptop, connecting your streaming device to an external monitor is simple. Just plug it into an available HDMI port on your monitor, or use a VGA adapter to connect your Fire Stick to your monitor. But be aware that not all external monitors have built-in speakers, so you may need to connect a pair of external ones or headphones to hear the audio. If you opt for a VGA adapter, make sure to get one with an audio output.
